Anxiety Attacks & Gospel Friendship

The Lord kept reminding me of this story and it just so happened Sunday my husband John wanted to read Exodus. I heard that story and I realized God was trying to say something through this passage.

“So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.” Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner.” Exodus 17:10-15 NIV

Isn’t that such a picture of what we are doing here??

After having that anxiety attack I had last week. My head was spinning, the worries of this world was too much. All the pressures of this world were coming down on my shoulders. I felt weak.

I know Moses was feeling the weight of his hands lifted that he could not bear it. I can imagine the defeat he felt.

Aaron was the high priest and Hurr, I’m not sure who he was, but he made this passage because he knew his leader and the people of Israel needed help.

Aaron and Hurr were strong enough when Moses was not.

But God does not want us to fight our struggles alone. It is his battle but he sends us as his hand and feet and even arms to help each other.

I wasn’t strong enough but the people of God were. They came around me to help when I needed it. Encouraged me.. let me spill out all my anxiety, lifted my burden, prayed for me that my mind would heal in the name of Jesus.

And I can say that Jesus is healing me on my anxieties and my mind. He has given me peace.

This experience pushed me more into God more and to give up control of the outcomes and pressures and fears of life and specifically motherhood.
