Only Jesus satisfies

4.2.3

He Fills the Hungry with Good Things

“For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”
— Psalm 107:9

“A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind Him at His feet weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.”
— Luke 7:37–38

Worship is a heart fully surrendered.
It’s deep intimacy with the Father—where we know Him and dwell with Him in the secret place. It’s where we lay ourselves bare before the Lord, our most vulnerable selves poured out at His feet. It’s in this place that He fills us.

Only Jesus can satisfy the soul.

We chase after worldly things hoping for peace, comfort, or fulfillment—relationships, substances, distractions—but they always run dry. They offer momentary relief, but leave us thirsty again and again.

But Jesus?
Jesus is the well that never runs dry.

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
— John 4:13–14

He is the water and the well. The Living Water that forever quenches our thirst.

I used to run to the things of this world—mainly cigarettes—for temporary peace or to “calm my nerves.” It worked, but only for a moment. Until one day, five years ago, God delivered me completely from nicotine.

Now I have something better—Someone better.
Jesus satisfies my soul in a way nothing else ever could. He fills me. He sustains me—even in the hardest of times.

In the early days of my walk with the Lord, during a time of personal worship in my room, the conviction of sin hit me deeply. I fell to my knees in repentance. And in that moment, the Father gave me a vision:
I saw myself face down on the floor, and He came and wrapped me in an oversized white robe—His righteousness. He was cleansing me. Clothing me in purity. Washing away my past.

Now, almost every time I worship, He reminds me who He is—and who I am.
I am His, and He is mine. A daughter of a good, good Father—forever.

When we intentionally choose to worship and linger in His presence, we find true rest for our weary souls.

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”
— Psalm 91:1–2

God isn’t afraid of the secrets in your closet. He isn’t intimidated by your hidden shame or your ongoing struggle. He’s bigger than your pain, and He longs for you to bring it all to Him.

Pour it out like oil.
Lay it all at His feet.
He wants it all.
